Tips during your course of IVF
Diet & Exercise
Moderate exercise around 30 minutes a day at least 3 times a week is recommended. Following a nourishing diet along with good eating habits are key for before, during and after pregnancy.
If overweight or underweight this may create trouble conceiving. A healthy balanced diet rich in lean proteins and fresh fruit and vegetables is important.
Smoking and Alcohol
Smoking has shown increased risk of miscarriage, premature birth and low birth weight babies. Alcohol has been shown to increase the risk of birth defects.
Both smoking and alcohol should be eliminated entirely in both the period leading up to and after conception.
Stress & Anxiety
Managing stress and anxiety when trying to conceive is extremely important. Taking time out to relax and unwind is the solution whilst incorporating acupuncture, massage, yoga and meditation. Also ensuring to eat a well-balanced diet and getting enough sleep will majorly help your body to lower/eliminate stress and anxiety.
High amounts of cffeine consumption has been shown to increase the risk of miscarriage. We recommended 1 cup of coffee daily, but if you can switch to green tea 2-3 cups a daily it will be a better substitute as green tea has many antioxidant properties. Caffeine can add up quickly in your diet if you are unaware Chocolate, Energy drinks and Colas all have caffeine so be careful to not overload on them.
Vitamins and Folinic Acid
Taking a daily dose of a good pregnancy multi-vitamin is always beneficial to make sure you are getting all the A, B and C vitamins you need. Zinc, B6 and Magnesium will help with any stress and anxiety. Folinic acid and B12 are important for good DNA development and is recommended to take several months before trying to conceive.

What is IVF?
IVF (In vitro fertilisation) is a treatment in which fertilisation occurs outside the body dating back to 1978. It involves culturing of female eggs with male sperm in a laboratory to create fertilised eggs (embryo). In a controlled laboratory environment, the strongest embryo is then transferred into the womb.
Why does one choose IVF?
Generally, couples who have been trying to conceive for over 1 year, or have the following:
Blocked fallopian tubes
Amenorrhea (no period)
Low hormonal health
Poor sperm factor
Many IVF clinics recommend Acupuncture, Naturopathy or massage as complementary modalities to their patients.
Frequently Asked Questions
Acupuncture is an ancient healing system utilised throughout the world for over 3,500 years. Traditional Chinese medicine is based on the treatment of specific acupuncture points located on energy pathways called meridians throughout the body.
How does it work?
Energy, or ‘Qi’ flows along the meridians to promote optimal function and balance in the body. Internal and external influences can block or damage this flow resulting in pain, disease or emotional imbalance. Each acupuncture point has a specific action and is carefully selected as part of your individually tailored treatment plan to remove blockages, increase circulation and stimulate the nervous system. By regulating the Qi, balance is achieved, ultimately restoring the function and health of the body, mind and soul.
Does it hurt?
Extremely fine needles are placed on the acupuncture points located on the meridian channels that run throughout the body. Commonly the needles aren’t felt at all. Instead, an experience of feeling light and deeply relaxed during treatments with an enhanced feeling of well-being are experienced following treatment. At Life Synergy we often incorporate body work or Chinese massage as an adjunct to acupuncture to enhance the treatment effects by stimulating circulation and allowing the body to relax optimally.
