At this time of the year I am constantly asked I use to keep my immune system healthy and strong.

My favourite nutritional immune support is Zinc and Vitamin C. Zinc is one of the most important minerals and unfortunately there is an astounding 75% of the Australian population who are zinc deficient. Zinc is a cofactor for approximately 300 enzymes in the body. Therefore, having a test to assess zinc levels is highly beneficial for your health. Typically, assessing zinc status effectively can be difficult, as most of the body’s zinc stores are in the bones. Hair analysis, levels in sweat, blood serum or white blood cells all require considerable (and costly) laboratory work. I can test your Zinc levels at Life Synergy with immediate results.

Vitamin C a water soluble vitamin with powerful immune support and antioxidant properties. Vitamin C can cause loose bowel movements if you consume too much so if this does occur, try not to stop just have 1g less the following day.

I also ensure my family consumes lots of homemade pumpkin soups, fresh juices with carrots for the vitamin A content to nourish our mucous membranes. Vitamin A also helps to make white blood cells which fight off infection.

Personally I avoid any of the foods I’m intolerant to like dairy, oranges, cashews and gluten. Consuming foods that we are intolerant to can also compromise our immune system.
