Tips during your course of IVF
Diet & Exercise
Moderate exercise around 30 minutes a day at least 3 times a week is recommended.
Following a nourishing diet along with good eating habits are key for before, during and after pregnancy.
If overweight or underweight this may create trouble conceiving. A healthy balanced diet rich in lean proteins and fresh fruit and vegetables is important.
Smoking and Alcohol
Smoking has shown increased risk of miscarriage, premature birth and low birth weight babies. Alcohol has been shown to increase the risk of birth defects.
Both smoking and alcohol should be eliminated entirely period to and after conception.
Stress & Anxiety
Trying to conceive can create added stress and anxiety. Relaxation is the solution, incorporating acupuncture, counselling, massage, pilates, yoga and meditation are easy methods to overcome stress and anxiety.
High amounts of caffeine consumption has been shown to increase the risk of miscarriage. We recommended 1 cup of coffee daily, but if you an switch to green tea 2-3 cups a daily it will be a better substitute as green tea has many antioxidant properties. Caffeine can add up quickly in your diet if you are unaware Chocolate, Energy drinks and Colas all have caffeine so be careful to not overload on them.
Vitamins and Folinic Acid
Taking a daily dose of a good pregnancy multi-vitamin is always benificial to make sure you are getting all the A’s, B’s and C’s you need. Zinc, B6 and Magnesium will help with any stress and anxiety. Folinic acid and B12 are important for good DNA development and is recommended to take several months before trying to conceive.
